What is heart disease?
Cardiovascular (heart) disease is the range of conditions that affect your heart. There are many diseases under the term heart disease, but the 3 main areas of heart disease such as blood vessel disease, rhythm problems and defects a person in born with. Cardiovascular and heart disease are used interchangeably. When doctors and researchers say cardiovascular, they are typically referring to diseases that involve narrowed or blocked blood vessels. Other conditions that may affect your heart muscles, valves, and rhythm are under the term heart disease.
